Why go out and spend money on a whole new handbag when you can easily change the look of one of your bags at home, and at a fraction of the cost of buying a new one. I must admit, I have two closets full of handbags and I never have a problem buying new ones. Yet, last week while window shopping with a friend at some of my favorite stores Kate Spade, Coach, and Micheal Kors I realized something. For at home I had some similar styles of these handbags, only they looked slightly different. Upon further investigation, I discovered that even though they were similar in style the obvious differences were the accessories on them. Some had longer decorative straps and /or added items on them, making them look much prettier and stylish. Some of the accessories on them were ones I had seen in fashion magazines and others that I was familiar with and had a few at home. One particular accessory that I recalled seeing and loving in the magazines and in windows were guitar strap inspired straps. So while out shopping, when I came across a store that carried those types of straps, that I knew would work well with some of my bags at home, I bought them. For I knew that these straps would be a perfect way to update some of my bags. Also, lucky for me, on that day I was carrying a pale pink bag that had the right hardware on it and matched one of the straps perfectly. I then grew very excited at thought of changing the look of some of my handbags at home and updating them instantly. Once at home, I attached the strap to the pink bag and loved the new look. For sometimes I attach pom-poms and charms to my bags to give them a little extra style, but I had never thought of purchasing different straps to further update them. This was a first for me and I loved the outcome! Now, I have a trendy looking bag at only a fraction of the cost it would have been to purchase a new one. I have attached photos of the pale pink bag accessorized in two different ways so that you can see how easy it can be to update some of your handbags at home. (In order to be able to attach straps your bag needs to have the necessary rings that are usually used to attach a longer secondary strap on some purses ). Note: See an example of the empty hardware rings on the pink purse below. I will update another purse then post it in “Photos” section.
Happy Styling!
